What are The Mantles?
The Mantles are symbolic archetypes that describe recurring ways of being in the world. They are not personality types or labels to wear. They are patterns of vocation, temperament, gifts, and challenges that help illuminate who you were born to become.
Is The Twelve Mantles a personality system?
No, They are a framework for self-discovery, reflection, and personal growth. The goal is not to fit yourself into a type, but to better understand your own nature and path.
Do I have only one Mantle?
Most people recognize one Mantle as primary, but we all express different qualities throughout our lives.
The Mantles are best understood as ways of being rather than fixed identities.

About the Author
K. Sophia Kages
K. Sophia Kages is the founder of House Pendragon and the creator of The Twelve Mantles.
Her work explores the intersection of symbol, mythology, vocation, and the enduring question of who we were born to become. Drawing from classical philosophy, archetypal studies, mythic traditions, and decades of personal observation, she developed the Mantles as a framework for understanding the patterns that shape a human life.
Rather than offering a system of labels or personality types, her work invites readers into a process of self-discovery through symbol, reflection, and authentic becoming.
The Twelve Mantles is the first volume of the Pendragon Codex, an ongoing body of work exploring identity, authenticity, sovereignty, and the architecture of human becoming.
She lives in the South Carolina Lowcountry, where she writes, studies, and continues the work of House Pendragon.
My quill has scratched vellum in monasteries, parchment in keeps, paper in dim city lofts. I have written by torchlight and by lamplight and by the blue glow of modern screens.
The ages change. The human soul does not. Across every era, I have observed the same hunger:
What am I for?
What moves me?
What shape does my purpose take in this life?
I have heard these questions whispered by kings and carpenters, warriors and widows, artists and academics, the lost and the luminous.
And I have watched each one reach toward a meaning they could feel but not yet name.
